Dress it up and eat it up

This basic veggie bowl includes both steamed and raw veggies in a combination of some of my favorite foods: avocado, broccoli, egg and tomato. But it’s the incredibly delicious Toasted Sesame and Miso Dressing that makes this dish something special!

The whole dish including the dressing takes but a few minutes to prepare. It can be easily modified to include other steamed veggies, such as cauliflower, carrots or squash. Or add a small portion of grains, like rice or quinoa, and beans if you wish.

Just be sure to top with dulse, sesame seeds, kimchi or homemade Sauerkraut and plenty of my super yummy Miso & Toasted Sesame Dressing!

If you’re not familiar with dulse, it’s a delicious seaweed sometimes referred to as sea lettuce. It grows in the northern coasts of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and is one of the most nutrition sea veggies you can incorporate into your diet.

This savory, red seaweed comes with a long list of health benefits. It supports healthy thyroid function, can lower blood pressure, improves circulation, digestion, boosts circulation and helps build healthy bones. All of this and more, because it’s packed with these minerals and vitamins:

  • omega-3 fatty acids
  • calcium
  • magnesium
  • iron
  • potassium
  • iodine
  • vitamin A
  • vitamin C
  • dietary fiber

Miso & Toasted Sesame Broccoli Bowl

This basic veggie bowl takes a few minutes to prepare and can easily be modified. Include other steamed veggies, such as cauliflower, carrots or summer squash. Add a small portion of grains, like rice or quinoa, or add beans if you wish. Just be sure to top with dulse, sesame seeds and my super yummy...

  • Total Time: 15m
  • Serves: 1
  • Yield: 1 bowl

Ingredients

Salad

  • Several Florets Broccoli, steamed
  • 1 Pasture Raised Egg, boiled or fried
  • Handful Tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/2 Avocado, sliced
  • 1/2 cup Rice or other grains (optional)
  • dash Sesame Seeds
  • dash Dulse Flakes
  • 1 tablespoon Sauerkraut or Kimchi
  • Cilantro, as much as desired
  • 1 teaspoon Toasted Sesame & Miso Dressing, see post for recipe link

Garnish

    Instructions

    1. Steam broccoli florets for 5-7 minutes.
    2. For the best fried eggs, add a pinch of butter to the pan and heat until melted. When the pan is hot crack the egg. Let fry on medium heat on until the white is well cooked. About 4 minutes. Turn the heat off and flip the egg so that the whites are seared on both sides. Remove from the pan after about a minute. Your yolk will be runny and the whites completely cooked though.
    3. Chop the broccoli and arrange all ingredients in a bowl. Top with garnishes and Toasted Sesame & Miso Dressing.
    4. Slice the tomatoes and avocado. Cut avocado in half, remove the pit and using a dull knife carefully slice the avocado right in the half shell. Scoop out with a spoon.
