Transform all your meals into an gourmet experience
Sauce up your grains, dress your salads and spice up your meat dishes. The possibilities are endless, but preparing this green elixir will only take a few short minutes of your time. This dressing will not only add flavor to any meal, but packed with vitamins and antioxidants it will aid digestion, absorption, toxin chelation and keep you both looking and feeling good.
If you don’t have a professional blender like Blendtec or Vitamix
Follow this same order of things, just keep in mind that you may not achieve as smooth a texture. If you’re considering investing in a pro grade blender, I’d recommend the Vitamix. Having owned a Blendtec for the last 5 years and getting to play with Vitamix in other kitchens, I prefer it because it affords greater control with slow speeds (necessary for many applications, including emulsifying oils) and the tamper proves priceless when working with drier mixtures. My Blendtec has served me well, but my upgrade will be a Vitamix.
When storing fresh herbs
Wash and dry them well, to store refrigerated in a closed-lid jar for the week. When you have a big bunch that you don’t expect to use up within the week, such as the purple basil pictured below, hang them to dry instead. Using a rubber band or ribbon, hang the bunch upside down from a hook. Once completely dry, after about a week’s time, place in an airtight glass container and store away from daylight.
When protected from sunlight and oxygen, dried herbs retain their beneficial properties which become activated when reconstituted. Soak dry herbs before use, or just toss them into a dish as you would with store bought dried herbs.
Store the dressing in a glass jar too
Don’t store in plastic. The little bit of acidity in this recipe is guaranteed to leech toxins into your food. BPA free or not.
The dressing will keep in your fridge for at least two weeks and maybe more. If the emulsification wasn’t spot on, it may separate, but that doesn’t mean that it’s gone bad. Just shake it up! The color will slightly dull, but if it tastes and smells good, it’s likely still good to eat.
I recommend you put this dressing on just about anything
Sandwiches, greens, stews, eggs, they’re all game. It can turn a potentially boring salad into a lip-smacking good meal. Just think of how much time this could save you. Throw greens and whatever protein you wish on a plate, drizzle with this Spicy Chipotle Green Dressing, and voila! A delicious, digestible, bio-available meal is ready for the eating.
